Northern Chile has been hit by a magnitude 7.6 earthquake and tsunami just a day after the country was rattled by a magnitude 8.2.
According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center a tsunami was generated by the earthquake and may have been destructive along Chile's coast.
However, no reports of damage from the waves have been reported so far and tsunami warnings have been cancelled.
The latest tremor caused buildings to shake in the port of Iquique, which saw some damage from the big quake yesterday. There were no immediate reports of new damage or injuries.
The quake came 45 minutes after a strong 6.4-magnitude aftershock shook the same area.
The stronger aftershock's epicentre was 23 kilometres south of Iquique. The USGS said the aftershock had a depth of 20 kilometres.
Chile's emergency office has ordered evacuations across the coastine.
New Zealand's Ministry of Civil Defence says there no threat for New Zealand.
The severe jolt yesterday left six people dead, triggered tsunami warnings and caused the evacuation of around 900,000 residents along the country's extensive coastline.
Waves as high as two metres were recorded after the quake.
