Radio hosts leave MORE FM Manawatū

Justin Evans and Renee Pink move to Rotorua to present MORE FM breakfast show

Renee Pink and Justin Evans are the new presenters of MORE FM Rotorua's breakfast show.

The departure of favoured radio presenters Justin Evans and Renee Pink from MORE FM Manawatū, has resulted in a change of hosts for the station's breakfast and daytime programmes.

Evans and Pink announced in March on the Mike West in the Morning breakfast show that they'd been offered a post presenting MORE FM Rotorua's breakfast show together.

Johnelle Hosking has filled Pink's shoes this week on the iconic breakfast programme, which has been on air in Manawatū since 1991.

Hosking has experience working in the radio industry, beginning at MediaWorks Rotorua, before moving onto Tauranga and Auckland where she has worked on MediaWorks Radio brands MORE FM and The Edge.

Last week Evans proposed to Pink on Mike West in the Morning, the show which his fiancée has been a breakfast co-host on for the past two years.

Evans presented the drive programme on MORE FM Manawatū from 2009 to the end of last year, before moving to the 10am-3pm daytime show this year. His show will now be presented by Geoff Stagg.

"I am really excited to be part of a brand new breakfast show with Justin Evans at MORE FM Rotorua," said Pink. "It's exciting to be part of something new and fresh."

Evans said that while it was sad to leave the radio station he'd first worked for in 2000, when it was known as 2XS FM, he and Pink are loving it in Rotorua.

"While it was sad to leave MORE FM Manawatū, we are loving it in Rotorua and have really enjoyed our first week on air," he said.

MORE FM Manawatū Programme Director Darren Wallace said he'd miss Evans and Pink being at the radio station, even though him and Evans didn't always get along, earning Wallace the nickname "Grumpy Darren".

"I know "Grumpy Darren" and Justin Evans didn't always get on, but I will miss [him and Renee Pink] both immensely. They are both great broadcasters.

"It was a real highlight to see the live proposal in studio," said Wallace.

Evans also expressed that he's missing teasing and playing jokes on Wallace.

"I miss having Boss Grumpy Darren to pick on," said Evans.
