A pedestrian has been struck and killed by a car near Palmerston North this morning.
Police central communications Inspector Mike Coleman said police were notified of the fatal crash on State Highway 3, near the Newbury Line and Rangitīkei Line, at about 6am today.
He was unable to give details of what happened or about the deceased person, including their gender.
The serious crash unit from Palmerston North was investigating and the highway was closed near the scene but road diversions were in place.
