A man has a busted ankle after he crashed a paraglider into the side of Mount Maunganui this afternoon.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, has been brought down from the north-eastern side of the mountain, before being taken by ambulance to Tauranga Hospital.
A reporter at the scene says kids who saw what happened said he spiralled before hitting the trees on the side of the mountain.
"Part of his canopy collapsed. It was an accident.
"He has a busted ankle and is being treated by St John Paramedics," the reporter said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
