73-year-old country rocker to play Auckland and Dunedin in October 2015

73-year-old hit songwriter Neil Diamond is returning to New Zealand in late 2015.

Neil Diamond is returning to play two dates in New Zealand late next year.

The veteran hit songwriter, well known for his singles Sweet Caroline, Cherry Cherry and Cracklin' Rosie, will return for a show at Auckland's Vector Arena on Monday October 19, before heading to Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium for a show on Saturday October 24, which is the Saturday of Labour Weekend.

The tour follows the recent release of the 73-year-old's Melody Road, his 32nd studio album which debuted at number one in the United States charts and reached the top five in New Zealand.

Tour Promoter Paul Dainty, Chairman of Dainty Group, is pleased to be bringing the tour to New Zealand.

"Neil is one of the greatest live performers in the world and I have been honoured to work with him for more than 3 decades and now again on his 2015 world tour," said Dainty.

"The depth and power of the Neil Diamond songbook, from his early hits, right through to his brand new critically acclaimed Melody Road album, will ensure an incredible live concert experience for all fans."

Diamond has charted 37 Top 40 singles and 16 Top 10 albums in the States and internationally. A Grammy Award-winning artist, Diamond is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and a recipient of the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award, one of the highest honours bestowed upon songwriters.

Diamond will tour with Dainty Group and play with support from NZME radio station Coast.

Tickets go on sale from Tuesday December 9 through Ticketmaster.
