Restaurant chain McDonald's has rolled out an all-day breakfast menu into all of its New Zealand restaurants, following successful trials in New Zealand, the United States and Australia.
Six restaurants in the Upper North Island have already trialled serving selected breakfast items 24 hours a day, over the last year.
The all-day-breakfast offering was introduced nationwide today after already being positively welcomed in McDonald's restaurants in the United States and Australia.
McDonald's have said the all-day breakfast menu won't include all their breakfast items, but hotcakes, the Bacon and Egg McMuffin, bagels and hash browns will be available to order after 10.30 am.
McDonald's New Zealand marketing director Chris Brown said the reaction to the New Zealand trial had been overwhelmingly positive.
"We know Kiwis love our breakfast menu and customers have been asking for all-day breakfast for years. After the incredible success of the trial both here and overseas we are very excited to roll out all-day-breakfast to all of our restaurants," he said.
"Our customers are enjoying breakfast at a time that suits them. They've also told us they love enjoying some of their favourites at other times of the day. Bacon and Egg McMuffins on the go and Hot Cakes as a dessert have been popular. Sneaking a hash brown into a burger also seems to be a bit of a menu hack."
McDonald's New Zealand spokesperson Simon Kenny said food courts will be adopting an 'all-day menu', rather than switching from a breakfast to a day menu. Under the all-day menu, options like burgers will be available before 10.30am.
"It's a solution for food courts that typically don't open until 9-10 am, to help make things easier," he said.
