The contestants for season three of TV3's top-rating home renovation television show The Block NZ have been announced.
The show, in which teams of two renovate one of four run-down houses to later sell in the live televised auction, begins broadcasting on TV3 in the coming months.
Manawatū fans will most likely be throwing their support behind Feilding husband and wife, Jo, aged 34, and Damo Neal, aged 36. The couple moved to Feilding about three years ago for Damo Neal to advance his career with the police. Jo Neal previously worked as a marketing assistant in Palmerston North and more recently set up her own home furnishing business. The Neals are Team Blue.
Other teams on the show include South Auckland's Maree, 27, and James, 28, high school sweethearts who have been together for 13 years. They will be representing Team Yellow.
From Christchurch comes Quinn, 26, and Ben, 30, who will be on Team Orange. They say they have zero experience with renovating homes.
And from Auckland's West Coast is Alex, 29, and Corban, 32. They've been married for a year-and-a-half and live on beautiful Muriwai Beach.
The teams will join hosts Mark Richardson and Shannon Ryan alongside new judges Shelley Ferguson and Mark Gascoigne, renovating houses in the Auckland suburb of Point Chevalier. Previous series have had houses renovated in Auckland's Takapuna and Belmont.
Feilding friend Tania Osborne said she was excited for her friends the Neals and could not wait to watch their progress.
"I am really proud of them. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Jo has a really good design flair and Daimon seems pretty handy around the home."
Teams take home any money made after their house's reserve price is met, when they go to auction. The team who gains the largest profit margin, receives an additional $80,000 and is crowned the winners. Last year's winners, Alice and Caleb Pearson, walked away with $261,000.
