A rampaging animal was reportedly on the loose on Monday, in Feilding.
After damaging police cars and trying to escape police Monday morning, the offending cattle beast was shot multiple times in the vicinity of Ranfurly Residential Care Centre on Derby Street.
The Feilding Fire Brigade was called to the scene to clean up the dead animal.
No elderly residents of the rest home were harmed during the shooting.
Ranfurly Residential Care Centre did not respond to a request for comment.
