There will be plenty to talk about at the Roxburgh Area School 150th jubilee next Easter, including a Lotto win by one of the organisers.
Roxburgh couple Penny and Neville Jennings spun $250,000 on last night's Winning Wheel, televised live on Tv2.
Their Winning Wheel win means Neville Jennings will be able to retire a little earlier than planned. With more time up their sleeves, the couple of 42 years are looking forward to enjoying more golf and cycling around Roxburgh.
Jennings, who has been working for hire company Hirepool for 22 years, told Lotto New Zealand he is "still enjoying it".
Penny Jennings is a receptionist at the Roxburgh Medical Services Trust, an occupation which she describes as the "perfect job".
This is the second win the couple have had thanks to Lotto this year, with the school’s jubilee that Penny Jennings is helping organise, receiving a lottery grant towards the event earlier this year.
"We've been very greatful to the Lotteries Commission for a donation towards the hire of the marquee."
"I won't have seen those people for 50 years," Jennings told Lotto New Zealand, "[so] that's going to be nice."
Speaking about the win, Jennings said it the timing of the Christmastime prize was perfect.
"It couldn't have come at a better time, when you are contemplating retirement," she said.
