
One New Zealander has been confirmed to have been onboard MH17, says Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully.
Mr McCully says the woman was travelling with her Dutch husband on a New Zealand passport but was based in Australia.
A British national who was a long-term resident of New Zealand was also on the flight.
Mr McCully extended condolences to the families onboard on behalf New Zealand and described the event as a "terrible tragedy".
"Thoughts are with the families and friends of those who have perished."
Out of the 298 people killed on the plane, around 40 remain unverified.
The people identified so far are 154 from Netherlands, 43 from Maylaysia (including 15 crew and 2 infants), 27 from Australia, 12 from Indonesia, none from the UK, four from Germany, four from Belgium, three from the Philippines and one from Canada.
The Ukrainian Government has accused pro-Russia rebels in the east of the Ukraine of shooting down the Malaysia Airlines jet with a ground-to-air missile.
