Auckland International Airport was evacuated this afternoon after a fire alarm was triggered.
A fire service spokesman said the call came through at 2.20pm as an automatic fire alarm activation.
Auckland Airport have since confirmed that a false fire alarm caused the evacuation of the international terminal.
The airport kept people up to date through their Twitter account throughout the situation.
Passengers and airport staff were evacuated to the drop-off zone out the front of the terminal while fire crews cleared the buildings. Airport staff re-entered the terminal first, before passengers were allowed in shortly before 3pm.
The airport says there will be some minor processing delays.
