Northbound commuters face long delays after Auckland's Harbour Bridge was partially closed due to emergency repairs to a dangerous overhead sign.
The two right hand lanes on the Harbour Bridged and the northbound Onewa Road onramp are closed.
Heavy congestion is likely as emergency services attempt to immediately repair the sign damaged by high winds to prevent it falling into motorway lanes, according to the NZ Transport Agency.
"We regret any inconvenience and delay, but we need to ensure the motorway is safe for everyone and securing the sign as quickly as possible is a priority," said NZTA's acting Highways Manager, Steve Mutton.
The loose sign has delayed the afternoon run of the machine that shifts the concrete barrier on the bridge to provide 5 northbound lanes for traffic this evening.
