The Easter holiday road toll has risen to four following a fatal crash northwest of Auckland this morning.
A 30-year-old woman died after the car she was in collided with a truck on the Coatesville Riverhead Highway in Kumeu at around 7.20am.
The truck driver was not seriously injured.
The crash happened just three kilometres away from Thursday night's fatal crash, which was the first of the holiday period.
On Friday morning an 80-year-old pedestrian was knocked down and killed on the Hinds-Rangitata Highway, 5km south of Hinds.
Later that day, 44-year-old Twizel woman Yulane Margaret Cadigan died after a crash on the Fairlie-Tekapo Road (SH8) in South Canterbury about 5.20pm.
Police say the car hit a tree, killing Ms Cadigan who it's believed was not wearing a seatbelt.
Speed and the poor condition of the vehicle may have led to the crash, along with poor weather, police said.
Police are enforcing a reduced speed threshold of 4km/h until the end of the extended holiday period at 6am on Monday April 28.
The official Easter holiday toll period ends at 6am tomorrow.
