A professional boxer, two radio presenters and a former politician and outspoken broadcaster are among the ten New Zealand celebrities on the next series of Dancing with the Stars NZ.
Shane Cameron, Simon Barnett and Jay-Jay Harvey, and Pam Corkery respectively are four of the kiwi celebrities getting their dancing shoes ready for series six of the ballroom dancing television show.
Harvey, co-host of The Edge radio breakfast show, and Enrique Johns, a South African professional dancer, were previously announced last week to be hitting the dancefloor.
The ten celebrities were confirmed and lined-up last night on TV3's The X Factor NZ, whose host Dominic Bowden will also host Dancing with the Stars on the channel. The series will the first for TV3. Bowden will be joined by radio presenter Sharyn Casey, currently the co-host of The Xtra Factor NZ and The Edge Afternoons, as his co-host.
Each week the celebrities will be pushed out of their comfort zones and endure hours of gruelling rehearsals with demanding choreography in order to create entertaining performances, says TV3.
Under the scrutiny of judges Candy Lane, Hayley Holt and Stefano Olivieri, the stars and their professional dance partners will have to prove they have mastered all the moves on the dancefloor.
The judges' scores, combined with the viewer vote, will determine who wins the coveted mirror-ball trophy and a place in the Dancing with the Stars hall of fame.
The show was previously produced by TVNZ for five seasons, during 2005-2009, and was hosted by Jason Gunn and Lane.
Dancing with the Stars is rumoured to premiere on TV3 on May 24, once The X Factor NZ has concluded its season. It will screen on Sunday and Monday evenings.
