Dominic Bowden, Sharyn Casey to host Dancing with the Stars NZ

Dancing with the Stars NZ hosts announced

Dominic Bowden and Sharyn Casey will host Dancing with the Stars on TV3.

MediaWorks and BBC Worldwide ANZ have announced host Dominic Bowden will work alongside co-host Sharyn Casey for the upcoming series of Dancing with the Stars.

Stepping off The X Factor NZ stage and onto the dance floor, Bowden said he is excited to be hosting Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) in New Zealand, a new show for TV3.

"I know this show like the back of my hand after being on set for six months last year in the USA," said Bowden.

"The energy, the pressure, the sportsmanship of it all; when I heard there was a New Zealand version in the works I was the first to put my hand up."

Making her moves beneath the mirror ball alongside Bowden will be The Edge FM's Sharyn Casey, who has been with the station for nearly nine years.

With her recent TV experience presenting on FOUR, as well as being one of the hosts of The Xtra Factor, Casey said she can't wait to be in the best spot in the house to watch the low dips and occasional snapped heel.

"When they first asked me I thought it was my radio co-hosts Guy and Clint playing a joke on me because they knew I really wanted to be part of the show," said Casey.

"The last couple of months being part of The X Factor has been amazing so when they asked me to co-host DWTS I jumped at the opportunity!"

New Zealand dancer and choreographer Candy Lane was announced as the head judge for DWTS, at the beginning of the month.

When asked by the producers if she wanted to be involved in the show, Lane said she "didn't know whether to laugh or cry!" and had to think about it. Lane also runs the Candy Lane Dance Studios at Mt Eden in Auckland.

"I'm not known for my tact when it comes to critiquing dance, but I will be a fair and honest judge. I'm not going to be mean, I'm going to be constructive," Lane said.

Lane previously co-hosted the first five series of the show, which were produced by TVNZ in 2005-2009, alongside Jason Gunn and is excited for the completely new series on TV3.

"Look out because it's gonna be bigger and better and no doubt full of memorable moments!," she said.

The names of the 10 Kiwi stars who will be slipping into the sequinned outfits, along with when the show goes to air, will be announced at a later date.

DWTS will continue the MediaWorks trend of cross-platform integration with extensive extra coverage available on tv3.co.nz and across social media on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
